- The Toolbox: a directory of useful single-page sites and apps
Really useful set of stuff. Wonder how fast I could roll my own wordpress layout with these tools.

Easy to install wifi for well, everything. If this takes off, things (no, literally, things, physical-object-things are going to get interesting. The only thing I object to is the same thing I do with all cloud services – that the devices talk to the company's servers, rather than a system in the home, thereby making the company a single point-of-failure for its own technology. You would not buy a wristwatch that stopped working if Casio went bust, why sould any other technology be different.

- Amazings
This is brilliant, but I don't live in East London. This does not seem like the sort of thing it would be hard to roll out to new areas, mind. I just wish they'd hurry up and get to poor neglected Tooting.

I have often thought that I should learn a bit about this arduino business that all the cool kids are playing with. This one speaks directly to my interests, and looks (relatively) simple. If I find the spare time and cash, it might be a good place to start.

- Stephen Fry – Don't Mind Your Language
I'm a bit of a linguistic conservative – my objection to neologisms like "squee" and "woot" is well-documented. But I'm also in firm agreement with Mr Fry here, even if my method of expressing it would be 180 degrees from his own. But then, that's why he's a national treasure and I'm not.

I know fuck all about engineering, electronics, or most of the tools this might be useful for. And yet still, I want one.
- London from above, at night – The Big Picture
Some staggeringly beautiful shots of my hometown. There is a small, mean part of me whispering that anyone who was half competant with the right kit and a helicopter could produce these. This is untrue, because he has (I assume) put time, effort and work into getting to a point in his career where it is economically viable for him to do so.
- More of London from above, at night – The Big Picture
More shots by the same photographer. And I know that small mean part of me is dead fucking wrong. These are superbly composed, beautifully shot exposures that evoke feeling and mood, that betray a really bloody good eye. Even were I up there with the right kit, I'm sure I'd miss most of the more interesting shots here.

- 1.3 Megapixel Camera Sunglasses
Sad, I know, but I’m almost tempted. Dealbreakers: crappy resolution, no wireless connectivity. When the resolution improves, and I can auto-email the pics, I’ll get a pair. When they do that, they’ll be perfect for a project I’ve been developing.
- Timer: Work in 48 minute increments
I’m on a productivity upswing (I have made my peace with the fact that I have periods where I juggle about 47 projects at once, vs periods where all I do is watch the telly) at the moment, and this might help ensure it’s actaully sustainable.
