I Don’t Quite Know How To Respond

From the Department Of What The Fuck?, a campaign video from the Libertarian candidate for the US Presidency.

OK, it probably can’t have cost much, but still: people were paid to make that happen. Someone, somewhere, though that that would sway hearts and minds.

Good Morning World

Saturday morning in London town. Peruvian coffee in a New Zealand style. Croissant. Shopping for cheeses, new season asparagus, some wild beef, some bloody good chocolate and some dark german beer. Taking a few photos while I wander around watching the Market fill up. And now I’m sitting here sipping a rich hot chocolate in the shadow of a whoremonger’s cathedral, watching the river slip by. In a minute I’m going to go and take a wander up to one of the finest collections of modern art in the world, just to see what’s new. Then it’s off to buy a bottle of whisky before nipping home prior to watching some roller derby this afternoon.

It’s a rough old life. Hope your weekend looks as good to you as mine does to me.

Grown From A Seed

Grown From A Seed

Another one of those shots where I knew exactly what I wanted the (heavily processed) shot to look like when I took it. I was struck by the silver dishes that the tomatoes were sitting in, and the light on them and on the tomatoes, and I wanted to see if I could get the tomatoes to take on some of the characteristics of the dish. It’s not a natural looking effect, obviously, but I’m big on irony in photography so it pleases me.

This actually looks rather better at larger sizes, so you may wish to click through for a larger version.

Telephone Number Help

Does anyone know a reliable means of getting the current phone number associated with a UK address? Yes, I have googled, but all the references I can find via google are incorrect…

Edit: Crisis over, the number in question has called me.

Does More Than Milton Can

Does More Than Milton Can

Spent ten minutes arseing about with the camera, trying to get a photo or two to accompany some writing about whisky. This is one of the better results, even if it is something of a savage crop from the original.

And the first photo taken with my new camera that I put online is… some scaffolding. I have a number of different variants of this, but the short answer to why I like them is “the sky”. The fact that on a reasonably bright day, I can take a shot of something looking up, and retain quite a lot texture in the sky. Never mind the gain in megapixels, the automatic metering on the new camera is much, much better than on the old one, and I think I am going to enjoy this.
